Sunbin was a famous militarist of the period of Fight states, when he was young he has studied military science together with Pang juan, then Pangjuan became a general of Wei State.he begrudged Sunbin’s talent, so he gulled Sunbin to Wei State ,and cutted his knee cap, made him a handicapped. With the help of Qi State’s diplomat, Sunbin escape to Qi State,and work for the king Qiwei as a counselor. “Besiege Wei state to rescue Zhao State” is the famous battle that Qi army commanded by Sunbin defeated the Wei State’s army commanded by Pangjuan.

About 354 BC, the powerful Wei state begin attacked the Zhao state, and the Wei state’s army under the command of Pangjuan Besieged Zhao guo’s capital ---Handan. Next year, the Zhao state asked for help to Qi State, King Qi appointed Tianji as the General to rescue the Zhao State.

  At first ,want assault Wei state directly, But Sunbin thought that Wei State’s main force was attacking Zhao state, it must be lack in defending of itself.so he suggested Tianji to attack Wei State’s capital---Daliang. Tianji accepted Sunbin’ suggestion, and begin to attack Daliang.

Pangjian was so vexatious when he learned the news that Tianji was attacking Daliang., that he casted off the supplies and gear of his army, and withdraw his army from 

Zhaostate the same night. Sunbin set the ambuscade on the way Pangjuan must pass through-------Guiling. After a long traipse, the soldieres of Wei state were debilitated, at this moment ,Qi State’s army surprised the army of Wei State.and defeat utterly the Wei army.This battle was called “ the battle of Guiling” In history of war ,the tactics like that was  called Besiege Wei state to rescue Zhao state. From this battle, Sunbin became famous, and his strategics was widely read.
